Millions of Africans are unprepared for current and future employment. The lack of job-related skills is preventing individuals from escaping poverty and also slowing down development for many African businesses, thereby affecting economic growth for the continent. Right now, many nonprofit and for-profit education organizations are dedicated to bridging the skills gap. Yet, their reach has been limited, and millions of Africans remain unemployed due to this. This panel discusses how already existing education initiatives can scale exponentially to close the skill gap, which will, in turn, impact individuals, businesses, and the economy positively.
The education panel is moderated by Toks Bakare, President of LEAD and Founder of asktoks.com. Special panel speakers include Dr Wendell Nii Laryea Adjetey, Co-Founder and President of Tujenge Africa Foundation; Tinacho Chitongo, Director of Development for African Leadership Academy (ALA); Orinoloa Gbadebo-Smith, Co-Founder and CEO of Hugo; and Adekunbi Adeoye, Founder and Executive Director of SESEWA.
